I was born in Marlette, Michigan on June 20, 1975 to Leonard and Sally Goheen. I have two older siblings Linda (7 years older) and Karen (5 years older). My oldest sister, Linda, has two daughters Carrisa (18) and Elise (15); and a step son Joey (15), well he's getting older now and likes to be called Joe. My sister Karen has two children Eric (20) and Megan (18), both are in college. I am also a Godmother to my cousin Jared(8). Watching these kids grow up is where I feel old, remembering all the fun times seeing them explore their world, learn, and become adults.
I grew up living next door to my grandparents in Melvin, Michigan. My Grandfather retired from farming when I was 6 months old. The unique thing of growing up in a small farming town community, everyone knows you or your family. Most of my neighbors were addressed as Aunts or Uncles, eventhough they were no relation. Although my father did not farm, we always had animals whether cats, dogs, pot belly pigs, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigeons, parokets, or fish. I spent most of my time riding bikes around the neighborhood or walking through the woods. I find three things very relaxing: 1) watching animals in their natural habitat; 2) Watching a camp fire burn; and 3) Sitting on a beach or riverside enjoying the sounds of water crashing around.
I graduated from Peck High School in 1993. Attended St. Clair County Community College in pursuent of a career in Radiology. After receiving an Associate's Degree in Science and in Arts, I transferred to the University of Michigan-Flint. I became interested in the Environmental Health field. With some deliberation I decided to change my career path to Environmental Health. I graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Science majoring in Environmental Health. I have worked now in the Environmental Health field for the last 11 years. My experiences include working with septics and wells permits/inspections; dye testing; swimming pool inspections; restaurant inspections; emergency preparedness; and working with the public.

May 8, 2O10, I married the love of my life Gerald
Dichtel. We met when I moved into my first apartment,
he lived upstairs. We quickly became friends due to our
common interest. We dated for a year and a half. On November 1. 2009, Jerry said good bye to his bachelorhood and asked me to marry him. With no hesitation and shear shock (did not see it coming) I said "Yes." My family expanded to a step-daughter Allison, a mother-in law; to a brother-in law Joe his wife Mickey, four children, son-in law, and two grandbabies; and to a sister-in law Alison her husband Gary, two children, daughter-in law, and two grandbabies. My husband and I live in New Baltimore, Michigan with our two cats Smokey and Simba.
Currently, I am pursuing a Master's Degree in Social Work at Wayne State University.
I am interested in working in the field of Gerontology. I grew up around and enjoy elderly people. Listening to their life story is a pleasure of mine. A lot can be gained by listening to where people have been and what they have experienced. I hope to learn the skills I need to prefrom in a professional manner, learn resources to help others, and to use my compassion for others to enrich their lives.
